A FLOOD of new developments are expected to be lodged with the Gold Coast City Council today as the new city plan comes into effect.
After more than two years of work, the plan will open the gates to unlimited height limits to large chunks of the coastal strip. The plan replaces the 2003 model which restricted substantial high rises to traditional construction hot spots such as Surfers Paradise. The new document and recent approval of towers at Budds Beach has caused angst among the community concerned about their views, property prices and traffic. However, city planning boss Cameron Caldwell said the filing of the first project today would be the start of the next round of development.“The development sector has been eagerly awaiting the plan to come in and we are expecting a number of applications to be lodged in the coming days,” Cr Caldwell said.
