He reportedly bought the enormous Beverly Hills home in order to be closer to his children.
Australian billionaire James Packer has paid $59.5 million USD ($82 million AUD) for Dany DeVito’s former home in Beverly Hills, California.
Mr DeVito and his wife Rhea Perlman lived there for more than 20 years.
The property is 2,694 square meters, and includes a huge main home with 7 bedrooms, several separate guesthouses, and a garage that holds 8 cars.
There is also a separate “entertainment building” which houses Mr DeVito’s original screening room, as well as a cigar room and wine room.
The property sold for $29 million in 2015 to Stuart and Stephanie Liner, who undertook extensive renovations.
According to Domain.com, the property sold for $34 million AUD below the asking price, being listed at $116 million, both prices in AUD.
You may recall that Mr Packer sold his Bondi Beach “bachelor pad” last month for a record $29 million.
He set another record in 2015 when he sold the “La Mer” mansion in Vaucluse for $70 million, and again when he bought an apartment in 2016 for $60 million.
Forbes estimates Mr Packer’s net worth at around $3.9 billion.

The “makeup room” has a private elevator up to a former closet in the master suite.
