AS we’ve seen in recent days, being the President of the United States is a tough gig.
There’s not enough time for relaxing at your opulent Caribbean island getaway, for one thing.
This may be why Donald Trump recently quietly placed his nine-bedroom St Martin mansion on the market for a cool $37.6 million.
The palatial, beachside property features two pools, tennis courts, an indoor/outdoor fitness centre, formal dining room, catering kitchen, five en suite bathrooms and covered outdoor bar, billiards and dining areas.
Sotheby’s Realty St Martin posted photos of Le Château des Palmiers on Instagram with the tongue-in-cheek caption: “It’s huuuuuge!”
The comments were mixed, with some calling it “awesome” and “stunning” and others using the opportunity to attack the US President’s morals.
“How gaudy can you get?” wrote one user. “Another 45 Versailles wannabe.”
It is certainly extravagant, decorated in classic Trump style with an emphasis on expensive, gold furnishings. Even the gym is decked out with elegant lighting and drapes, and the master bedrooms boast kingsize mahogany beds and en suite jacuzzi.

Private balconies at the gated enclave overlook the white sands of Plum Bay, and it is divided into a main building and a four-bedroom garden side villa, enclosed by a Trump-approved eight-foot wall.
There’s no danger of intruders, with a state-of-the-art security system, surveillance cameras and two-bedroom manager’s area with living room, kitchen and office.
It even has a media room for firing off those early-morning tweets.

The President, who bought the home from an Indiana businessman in 2013, made $270,000 to $2.7 million in rental fees between 2014 and mid-2016, according to financial disclosures seen by the Washington Post.
The $37.6 million listing price of the property has now been removed and replaced with “price on application”, with similar nearby homes selling for around $15,000 less.
